6 Ways to Celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2021

If you pass a truck on the highway today, don’t forget to give the driver a smile and a wave!

It’s National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (Sept. 12-18) and it’s a time to recognize the miracles truck drivers make happen on a daily basis to ensure our nation’s economy keeps running at every level...they truly are the backbone of America!

Think about it...how are the shelves at your grocery store always stocked with fresh, healthy food? How is it that you can jet on down to your pharmacy and get the medicine you need in a heartbeat?

Truck drivers are the ones who make sure these necessities are delivered in a timely fashion, and with the rise of online shopping- those shipping deadlines can be even tighter.

Truckers make it happen rain or shine, taking on perilous road conditions, traffic, and inclement weather to transport products.

They spend long hours on the road, away from family to ensure even the most remote towns in the US have everything they need.

And, let’s not forget the role our road warriors have played during the COVID-19 pandemic. Truck drivers are frontlines workers who put their health and well-being aside to ensure our economy keeps moving, no matter what.

So take the time to thank a truck driver this week. There are numerous ways to do so, whether you know someone who is a truck driver or you work with a team of drivers.

Here are 6 fun ways you can celebrate!

  • Throw a party or BBQ
  • Treat a truck driver to dinner or lunch
  • Give them a card or tuck a heartfelt note in a truck window
  • Make a poster with an encouraging message and hold it up on the highway
  • Gift a trucker with gift cards, truck services, or fuel cards
  • Donate to a trucking organization or charitable cause that helps truckers
